City adjusts water environment improvement project

The Prime Minister has just agreed to adjust completion time of the water environment improvement project in the city, the basin of Tau Hu-Ben Nghe-Doi-Te canal in the second phase, and to assign the municipal People's Committee to collect opinions of relevant ministries in the process of project implementation.

According to the Management Board of Traffic Infrastructure Investment and Construction of Ho Chi Minh City, the above project is being deployed with the ongoing completion of a rainwater drainage system, contributing to reduce flooding for this basins on a total area of 2,150 hectares with its total investment of VND 11,282 billion, including Japanese ODA loans and reciprocal capital from the city budget.
Particularly, the project has five construction and installation bidding packages, two technical consultancy packages. Of which, the J package to expand and increase the daily capacity of Binh Hung sewage treatment facility from 141,000 to 469,000 cubic meters contributed in solving the water pollution on the Tau Hu - Ben Nghe canal. Meanwhile, the K package to renovate the water drainage system and build the secondary water drainage lines and pumping stations in the basin of Hang Bang canal is to solve the current flooding situation.

The G package is expected to construct a 33.7 kilometer long sewer system to collect wastewater. 

Besides that, the I package will expand the transit pumping station and build transship-sewer; in which, expanding and raising the capacity of the existing Dong Dieu wastewater transfer pumping station from 192,000 meters cubic to 640,000 meters cubic per day; additional installation of three pumps, one transformer and one backup generator; additional construction of two sedimentation chambers and a 3.6-kilometer double box culvert, etc. 

The F package will renovate canals and drainage pumping systems at Tau Hu - Ben Nghe canal; improve the rainwater drainage system by increasing the capacity of Me Coc 1 pumping station from 0.7 meter cubic to 1.5 meters cubic per a second.
