Surgeons reattach amputated forefinger, thumb

Surgeons of the Department of Trauma- Burn of the General Hospital in the central province of Binh Dinh succeeded in reattaching a carpenter’s thumb and forefinger, said the hospital on May 12.

Working in the carpentry workshop, 27 year-old Nguyen Huu Kh. accidentally cut his thumb and index finger clean off of his hand on April 21.
Immediately, the workmates preserved both of Kh.’s fingers. Then he was taken to Binh Dinh General Hospital for emergency treatment.
After 5 hours of surgery, doctors had successfully reattached the carpenter’s fingers.
After 20-day treatment, Kh.’s reattached fingers were “alive” and movable.
