Though southeast provinces are near Ho Chi Minh City, they have low vaccination rate sparking measles outbreaks. Without quick-fix solutions, the disease will spread to other localities.

From the end of 2018, measles occurred and broke out in most localities in the southern province of BInh Phuoc where recorded 776 cases by May 19, 2019 in districts Hon Quan, Bu Dang, Phuoc Long Town and Dong Xoai Town.
Infection cases have been reported in distant areas where minority ethnic groups live.
A S’tieng woman Thi Thu in Dong Phu District said that local medical workers did remind of vaccination but she and her husband were so busy that they couldn’t take their three children to hospital for inoculation.
Meanwhile, in the first months of the year, the measles cases in Binh Duong skyrocketed to more than 1,000 whereas there were 910 cases in the whole 2018. 558 unvaccinated children below nine month old get the disease.
According to the Preventive Medicine Center of Ba Ria- Vung Tau’s report, by the end of April, 2019, 24 infection cases were reported in the province compared to 11 cases last year.
Simultaneously, Dong Nai Province has 1,250 measles cases in 11 districts from the beginning of the year.
Head of the Department of Health In BInh Duong Province Tu Tan Thu pointed out that parents forgot to take their kids to infirmaries for vaccination as per schedule leading to spikes in infection case numbers.
From March, 2019, the Department of Health in Binh Phuoc Province worked with Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City implemented supplementary measles-rubella vaccination campaign; however, the campaign bumped into difficulties because parents showed their indifference to immunization.
Deputy Head of the Disease Control Center in Binh Phuoc Province Dr. Nguyen Van Sau said unvaccinated kids account for nearly 80 percent of infection cases.
