After Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper published a report of farm owners using banned chemical in feeding swine causing threats to consumer health, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) asked related agencies to correct the matter.
Agencies were asked to control over the use of dubious chemicals in husbandry. The use of prohibited chemicals in husbandry is on upward trend especially in South Vietnam
To quickly correct the use of banned chemical in husbandry, MARD sent a document to provincial people’s committees across the country, asking chairpersons to work with other agencies to increase information of prohibition of using banned chemical in feeding swine and other animals as it causes threats to consumers’ health and destroy the prestige of domestic husbandry.
Any violation will be punished and publicized to the community on public media.
Relevant agencies must set up inspection teams to check the use of chemicals in husbandry especially tighten the control of Salbutamol in producers, and stores to sell animal feeding and conduct regular checking animal feeding and urine of animal should be made before selling at farms and slaughterhouses
