HCMC needs 60,000 blood units for emergency treatment in upcoming Tet festival

The Ho Chi Minh City Steering Board for Voluntary Blood Donation under the HCMC Red Cross Society yesterday launched a voluntary blood donation campaign to appeal people in organizations, companies, schools, military units and all other citizens to give their blood for emergency treatment in the upcoming New Year and Tet festival of 2020 ( Lunar New Year).

Chairman of the city Red Cross Society Tran Truong Son said that from the beginning of the year, the blood bank received over 278,760 blood units donated by 218,955 volunteers with the rate of clean blood of 98,55 percent.
To make sure enough blood for emergency treatment in the coming festive season, the Red Cross Society mounted the campaign.
Especially, the labor union in the city in coordination with the Red Cross Society to encourage 10,000 staffs to donate their blood from now to December 31.
The city is in need of 60,000 blood units.
Also on November 19, officers, lecturers, and students in HUTECH University in Binh Thanh District joined in the Voluntary Blood Donation Festival and donated 300 blood units.
Citizens can donate blood at local medical institutions or Blood Donation Center of HCMC at 106 Thien Phuoc Street in Ward 9 in Tan Binh District.
