The province has also 6,418 cases of hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) . Districts with most hand-foot-mouth cases are Cam My, Thong Nhat, Tan Phu, Xuan Loc and Dinh Quan.
As per the provincial People’s Committee, dengue and HFMD are blamed for local administrations’ neglect. Local governments did not take full heed to implement preventive measures.
Worse, leaders of enterprises in industrial parks did not cooperate with the health sector in disinfecting the environment and spraying chemicals.
Moreover, people’s awareness of the two disease is very low especially workers in industrial parks; consequently, prevention task is not as efficient as expected.
Accordingly, People’s Committee issued a document on October 12 asking related agencies to make concerted efforts to fight against the two diseases as well as review what they had done for prevention and difficulties during the process to have more effective measures.
