The Ministry of Health’s Department of Preventive Medicine sent its urgent dispatch asking the northern province of Thanh Hoa to implement preventative measures against bird flu as there has been an outbreak of bird flu in Tinh Gia District.
As the World Health Organization is warning of the arising of new subtypes and strains when the virus undergoes genetic mutations causing harm to human health condition, said the Department.
Meanwhile, this time is festival season in Vietnam when the consumer demand for chicken meat has grown. It was resulted from high danger of bird flu virus transmission from chicken to human and outbreaks of the disease among waterfowl.
Accordingly, the Ministry urged the provincial Department of Health’s director to strictly implement measures against the disease in the infected areas and disease-prone districts, especially, the department must eye on localities which will organize festivals.
Health department should liaise with vets and local governments to inspect the disease; destroy all sick poultry as well as spray disinfectant in the infected areas.
Medical workers must quarantine all people who have symptoms of flu to properly treat.
