The subsidiary of France’s Credit Agricole Group signed the loan agreement with the national carrier in Ha Noi today.
Vietnam Airlines placed the US$750-million order with Airbus back in December 2004, but very little news about the deal’s progress has been leaked until today.
The Export-Import Bank of the United States (Eximbank) is also planning to finance the purchase of aircraft by Vietnam Airlines, having reached a provisional agreement to lend US$410 million for buying four Boeing 787-7s.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung recently told the carrier not to tarry but to purchase the 14 jet liners as soon as possible.
