Before, sitting for the national science contest held by the Ministry of Education and Training and the people’s Committee in the northern province of Phu Tho, Pham Huy from a school in the central province Quang Tri won the contest with his robotic arm, which helps disabled people in Vietnam with a more affordable alternative to prosthetics.

Accordingly, he was selected to represent Vietnam to take part in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2017 (Intel ISEF 2017) which is scheduled to take place in California from May 15-19. However, Huy faced with a challenge getting his visa to enter the U.S., as he  had been rejected twice.
The school and the Department of Education and Training in Quang Tri Province had proposed supporting from the Ministry.

The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi worked on May 13 to process the boy’s visa application and at last he acquired the visa.
Huy had missed the scheduled flight with the Vietnamese team; accordingly, the boy will travel by himself  and be picked up at the airport by an official from the Vietnamese delegation, the headmaster said.
