The two honored universities are the Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) staying in top 701-750, and the Vietnam National University Hanoi (VNU), in top 801-1000.

That result means that the VNUHCM is also listed in the top 69 percent in the QS World 2019 and the top 4 percent in the total of 23,000 universities in the world.

QS World evaluates and ranks the performance of international universities according to six metrics of academic reputation (accounting for 40 percent), employer reputation (10 percent), faculty/student ratio (20 percent), citations per faculty (20 percent), international faculty ratio (5 percent), and international student ratio (5 percent).

Two metrics of the VNUHCM are in the top 500 this year, namely faculty/student ratio (at the 375th position), and academic reputation (at the 497th position). To have this result, QS World has analyzed data from 97 million citations of 14 million articles in the Scopus system as well as responses of 1.2 million scholars and 200,000 businesses globally.

Since 2014, the VNUHCM has remained in the QS Regional University Rankings – Asia with higher and higher position.

Last year, it was ranked at the 142th. This year has marked its giant leap with the appearance in the QS World University Rankings 2019.

This result is the convincing proof of the correct decision to take part in the ranking process years ago of the VNUHCM. It can also help the university to identify its strengths and weaknesses clearly in order to improve its quality in a more sustainable and stable way.
