Good essay on Ho Chi Minh City wins first prize

Sai Gon Giai  Phong Newspaper held an award ceremony for the English writing contest themed 'Describe Your Experiences with Festivals and Travel Destinations in Vietnam” at SGGP Newspaper’s office on December 20.

The contest was launched by Sai Gon Giai Phong in May and after nearly seven months of launch the organizational board received more than 20 essays of students and foreigners.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Editor in chief of the newspaper Ly Viet Trung said that this was the first time SGGP Newspaper held the English writing contest aiming to introduce to international readers the country’s beautiful nature, unique culture and hospitable people.

The organizational board did not focus much on language but it targeted essays which expressed writer’s emotions on festivals, attractive destinations of the country or the Vietnamese people, said the deputy editor in chief.

The organizational board selected three best essays. The first prize went to Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huong with the essay on Ho Chi Minh City. Ngoc Huong is a student of University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The second prize was handed over Tran Minh Uyen with the essay on Ba Ria- Vung Tau’s Loc An Beach. Minh Uyen is a student from Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture.

And the third prize belonged to Le Thi Thu Thanh, a history teacher in Quang Tri province, with the essay about Quang Binh’s Phong Nha Cavern.

All prizes were donated by Binh Dien Fertilizer Corp, Vietjet Air and Liberty Central Saigon Riverside Hotel.
