Vietnamese short film honored at Cannes Film Festival

A Vietnamese short film, Hay Thuc Tinh va San Sang (Wake Up and Ready) directed by Pham Thien An won the ILLY Short Film Award under the Director’s Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival 2019.

The movie was presented to viewers on May 23-24 at the Cannes Film Festival. Director Pham Thien An also introduced his project of a feature length film to movie experts at Focus CoPro’, an event hosted by Cannes’ Short Film Corner.
Mr. An’s Hay Thuc Tinh va San Sang (Wake Up and Ready) tells a story of a motorcycle accident in front of a street pub. The incident unveils a secret story involving three young men.
Pham Thien An, won second prize during the 48 Hours Short Film Competition in 2014. His latest short film, titled The Mute, as screened as a World Premiere at Palm Springs International Shortfest in the US and has been chosen to compete in nearly 15 international film festivals.
