Hanoi’s Old Quarter of artist Phai on ceramic road

The Tan Ha Noi (New Ha Noi Arts) Company August 31 inaugurated a section of the Hanoi ceramic road project, which was adapted from nine oil-paintings of Bui Xuan Phai- the artist famous of Hanoi's Old Town, marking 90th anniversary of his birthday.

The 19-meter long and 1.5-meter high section is placed on the wall in the intersection of Nghi Tam, Au Co and Yen Phu streets.

These are paintings, which describe Hanoi’s Old Quarter during four seasons.

Bui Xuan Phai (1920-88) was one of the Vietnam’s leading modern painters. He is known for his paintings of the Hanoi’s Old Quarter and landscapes. His works are displayed in domestic and foreign museums. He received the highest national award, the Ho Chi Minh Prize, posthumously in 1996.
