Central region urgently overcomes consequences after typhoon Matmo

Rain yesterday stopped and floodwater level in rivers gradually receded to under alert level 2 in most of localities across the Central region, where people have been reparing consequences in the aftermath of typhoon Matmo.

The South- Central region enjoys sunny weather after recent flood and typhoon days. That creates favorable condition for local people and authorities to urgently overcome typhoon consequences as well as soon stabilize daily life and production. 

Statistics showed that there had been 179 collapsed houses, 2,114 destroyed houses, 200 flooded houses in the recent natural disaster.

Additionally, 79 fishing vessels were damaged and more than 5,000 hectares of rice and vegetable crops were destroyed completely.

According to the latest weather news from the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center, a tropical low pressure system is expected to appear in the middle of the East Sea on November 3. 

From November 6, the dangerous zone would be able to turn into a tropical storm heading to the Central region. 

The army forces, police, border guards and civil defenses joined hand in cleaning up uprooted trees along roads, soil and rock downslope, overcoming the consequences of typhoon Matmo, gathering thousands of sand bags to reinforce damaged houses and riverside, repairing house’s roofs.
