Vietnam ranks fifth among wooden furniture exporters to Germany

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam is the fifth largest wooden furniture supplier for Germany in the first seven months, reaching US$86.2 million, an increase of 8.4 percent over the same period last year.
Market share of Vietnamese wooden furniture in total imports of Germany increased by 0.3 percent over the same period last year, touching 2.9 percent. China, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Vietnam are the main wooden chair suppliers for Germany.

The value of market share of Vietnamese wooden furniture in total wood import turnover remained low. Therefore, this is still a potential market for wood industry of Vietnam. However, Vietnamese enterprises should notice that in comparison with common regulations of the EU, the law of Germany is much stricter.

In order to promote export to this market, enterprises need to focus on three standards, including quality, hygiene, and social responsibility. When products and brand name of any enterprise have already entered this market, it also means opportunity to enter other markets in the EU.
