Viet Nam to cooperate with Thailand in rubber industry

Thailand is ready to cooperate with Viet Nam in the rubber industry via information exchange, technical training and other activities, said Mr. Theerachai Saenkaew, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand.

He was speaking at a July 17 meeting, which was attended by representatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam Rubber Group and Vietnam Rubber Association.

Thailand is the world’s biggest natural rubber producer, with production which reached 3 million tons for a year and 300,000 tons for the domestic consume. It focuses on development cooperating rubber industry aiming at promoting value-added instead of exporting raw material.

Thailand is strongly developing rubber in its northeast and expects to make the region a rubber commercial center in Southeast Asia.

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Agriculture Bui Ba Bong has delegated the Vietnam Rubber Group to be an agency in cooperating with Thailand.
