VN-Index Reverses Course in Last Minutes

The VN-Index dropped 1.95 percent in the first trading session Tuesday, disappointing many investors. Fortunately, it reversed course in the last minutes of the second trading session and climbed 0.82 points or 0.19 percent to close at 436.71 points.

By closing time, 15.33 million shares worth over VND527 billion (31,374,650) had changed hands. Of the whole bourse, 56 stocks gained, 17 remained unchanged and 84 lost.

With 2.8 million changing hands, Sacombank (STB) had the highest volume of order matching, followed by Phu My Fertilizer and Chemicals (DMP) with 1.8 million shares traded. Petro Vietnam Drilling and Well Services Joint –Stock Company (PVD) was ranked third with 0.68 million shares changing hands.

The volume of shares bought by foreign investors was 3.72 million, fourfold higher than the volume they sold, which was only 960,000.

At the Hanoi bourse, the HASTC Index increase slightly by 0.35 points or 0.28 percent to close at 125.13 points. The total volume of transactions reached over 11.4 million shares worth over VND290 billion (US$ 17,264,987) Twenty-six stocks gained, 20 remained unchanged and 96 lost.
