Norwegian international technology corporation Odim opened its first factory in southern Vung Tau City on October 26 after 16 months of construction.

The US$20-million factory covers an area of 12,500 square meters, produces marine equipment and mechanical products including ropes, cranes, and winches.

It will initially process marine supplies for Odim, said the factory’s head, adding that the facility would operate independently beginning in the second quarter of next year.

The plant attracted 100 Vietnamese skilled laborers and plans to recruit an additional 150 workers.

Odim Corp. provides marine supplies and services in three main fields including offshore service vessels, subsea and deepwater installation, and naval power operations.
