HCMC invites Kansai investors to three key fields

Standing deputy chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem on Thursday called upon businesses from Japan’s Osaka province and Kansai region to invest in three key fields comprising traffic infrastructure, health and human resource development.

Mr. Liem was quoted at a trade and tourism promotion conference in Osaka, which is one of important activities in a string of trade, investment and tourism promotion events between the two countries as well as between HCMC and Osaka in the upcoming time.

Estimating that HCMC plays an important role in business of Kansai enterprises, Mr. Masayuki Matsushita, deputy chairman of the International Committee of the Kansai Economic Federation, said that HCMC authorities have make unceasing efforts to improve business environment.

At present, 20 percent of Japanese investors in Vietnam are from Kansai.

Mr. Matsushita forecast a high increase in Vietnam’s economic growth, commenting that investment and business environment improvement in HCMC and the country will play a significant role in luring investors from Kansai region to the city.

Companies attending the conference shared experiences in trade and investment in HCMC. Leaders of the HCMC Department of Tourism introduced local tourist potentials while Osaka Government’s representative analyzed cooperation prospects in the field.

At the conference, the HCMC’s Tourist Department and the Culture, Sports and Tourism Division of Osaka city’s Strategic Economic Bureau signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on tourist development cooperation.

On the same day, secretary of the city Party’s Committee Dinh La Thang leading a high level delegation from HCMC met business associations in Kansai including Meti Kansai, Jetro Kansai, Kankieren and OCCI to exchange investment information and economic cooperation between HCMC and Kansai businesses.

HCMC Days in Osaka 2017 opened at International House, Osaka city in the morning of Thursday, attracting a lot of Vietnamese overseas and local citizens.

The event features a lot of attractive activities such as traditional music performances, Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) fashion show, Vietnamese martial art Vovinam performances and a photo exhibition showcasing diplomatic activities, friendship relationship together with cultural, sport and tourist exchanges of citizens between the two countries.

In the evening of the same day, over 40 artists from HCMC performed in a Vietnamese traditional music program at Osaka International Exchange Center.

Formerly in the morning, secretary of the HCMC Party Committee Dinh La Thang visited Osaka province governor Ichiro Matsui and Osaka city’s mayor Hirofumi Yoshimura.

Mr. Matsui expressed Osaka Government and people‘s gladness to receive the HCMC delegation, saying their visit to Japan showed the city leaders’ determination to developing the years long relationship between the two sides.

Diversified and attractive cultural programs organized by HCMC on the occasion of the visit will boost the close and friendly relationship between the two localities, he believed.

He informed the delegation that the province has prepared for the host of World Expo 2025 and expected that HCM would support Osaka to organize the event which is a chance for participating countries to speed up tourism and trade.

Secretary Dinh La Thang thanked the governor and the mayor for their warm reception, saying the cooperation relationship between HCMC and Japanese localities including Osaka has been developing and considered as an outstanding example for the dynamism and efficiency of the cooperation friendship between HCMC and foreign localities.
