Gov’t issues bonds for hospitals project

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the issue of Government bonds, worth VND14 trillion (US$787 million) for a three year project to upgrade clinic hospitals at the district and inter-district.

The project’s goal is to extend health services in 63 provinces and cities nationwide, between 2008 and 2010.

The money raised from the planned issue will be provided to six regions:

Northern Moutain region, with 14 provinces, will receive VND3.3 trillion

Red River Delta, with 11 provinces and cities, VND2 trillion

Northern Central Part and Central Coastal region, with 14 provinces and cities, VND3.6 trillion

The Central Highlands, with five provinces, VND1.2 trillion

Southeast region, with six provinces and cities, VND571 billion

Mekong Delta, with 13 provinces and cities, VND3.5 trillion

A total of 552 provincial clinic hospitals and 69 multi-provincial clinic hospitals will benefit.
